As August draws to a close, so does another summer. I am a bit sad to see it go but friends and family visiting and newly discovered territories have left me with lasting memories to cherish. I didn’t go abroad this August but the South-East coast of England was certainly worth a visit: beautiful seaside settings, cliff walks, lovely cottages and that incomparable atmosphere and palpable eeriness by early evenings which reminded me of the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. I have yet again succumbed to the charms of the British coastline that made me feel utterly at home and temporarily forget my French roots (a special mention goes to that hidden gem that is Seven Sisters).
I hope all of you had a great summer full of travel, good friends and fond memories. I do look forward to autumn with its crispness in the air, the cosiness of knitted jumpers and all those dressmaking plans and projects that make a new season always exciting. Do you have any sewing, arts or design projects for this autumn? I’d love to hear about them!
In the meantime, here’s my last toast to August 2013!
